We hear "Why New Orleans?" about as often as we hear "Congratulations!"
The truth is, we fell in love with the city a little like how we fell in love with each other - unexpectedly, and all at once. We both visited for the first time for a long weekend about a year ago - one of us was running a half-marathon here, and the other tagged along.
We were totally enchanted - by the history, the culture, the food, the music... There is no other place quite like it. It's a town that makes you want to enjoy life, and what better place to gather our friends and family to witness us begin our new life together.
We hope you love it as much as we do!
New Orleans
The history of New Orleans, Louisiana traces the city's development from its founding by the French, through its period under Spanish control, then briefly back to French rule before being sold by Napoleon in the Louisiana Purchase. In the 19th century, it had almost as many free blacks as white people, and it was the largest port in the South, exporting most of the nation's cotton output and other products to Western Europe and New England. With its rich and unique cultural and architectural heritage, it remains a major destination for tourism, conventions, and major sports events, even after the major destruction and loss of life during Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
